Building a future with decent work for youth

ILO Country Office for Zimbabwe

The ILO Office in Zimbabwe (ILO CO Harare) works as part of the United Nations Country Team in Zimbabwe. It contributes to the United Nations Development Framework (UNDAF) through a country assistance plan called the Zimbabwe Decent Work Country Programme (DWCP) which supports the Government of Zimbabwe and its Social Partners (Workers, Employers organizations and Civil Society) in achieving employment and labour related objectives and aspirations for promoting rights at work, harnessing decent employment opportunities, enhancing social protection and strengthening dialogue in handling work-related issues.

The current Zimbabwe DWCP has four main priorities namely; (1) Poverty reduction through Employment Creation; (2) HIV and AIDS workplace response and Social Protection; (3) Strengthening Social Dialogue and advancing Tripartism; and (4) Gender Equality and Women Economic Empowerment. The ILO Country Office for Zimbabwe (ILO CO Harare) is assisting Zimbabwe to implement projects that address these four priorities through technical cooperation projects on youth employment, labour migration, skills and employability, HIV and AIDS and social dialogue.
