Training of Local Tree Traniners and Facilitators

 The workshop objectives were to build the capacity of local TREE trainers with;

  • Greater understanding of the Skills for Youth Employment and Rural Development programme objectives and the broader ILO goals.
  • Deeper understanding of the roles and buy-in of different stakeholders and actors involved at the various levels.
  • Shared lessons and best practices on effective planning and implementation of the TREE methodology.
  • Familiarization of tools and methodologies to implement training and non- formal teaching methods.
  • Training on how to select TREE clientele, dealing with gender, disability and diversity issues; and enabled to check trainees' progress and management of groups.
  • Acquire knowledge and skills of drawing a training plan


The workshop was intended for training instructors from vocational training institutions, community development officers, youth officers, micro finance officers and local trade or crafts persons, NGO officers and field extension officers who reside in Gokwe South, Mount Darwin and Mutoko; have personal attributes and competencies that include : a personal desire to teach, resourcefulness and creativity, have knowledge of, and ability to apply the basic techniques of instruction, ability to work well with community leaders and stakeholders especially youth, and an understanding of and commitment to community enterprise and rural development.
